Mr Abu Sufian

Lecturer, Department of Political Studies, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology


Biography:

Abu Sufian is working as a Lecturer at the Department of Political Studies, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet-3114, Bangladesh. Earlier he worked as a Research Assistant (RA) for Microgovernance Research Initiative, Bangladesh and Ghent University, Belgium in a project titled "Governance and Political Violence in Bangladesh (1991-2014)". Abu is also working as an Assistant Editor for South Asia Journal, New Jersey, USA and for Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB). For his outstanding academic records, Abu was awarded Public Leader Abdur Razzak Memorial Gold Medal 2014, Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Chowdhury Gold Medal 2014, Dr. Jalal Alamgir Memorial Gold Medal 2015, Justice Mustafa Kamal Gold Medal 2015, Dean’s Award 2017 and Provost Award 2019 by the University of Dhaka. Recently, he was also awarded ‘I2OR- Young Researcher Award 2018’ by the International Institute of Organized Research (based on India and Australia) for his promising research interests and works on geopolitics. Abu's research works and commentaries are widely found in YaleGlobal, IndraStra Global, South Asia Journal, Eurasia Review, International Public Policy Review, Modern Diplomacy, South Asia Monitor, Journal of Politics and Administration, and so on.

Research Interests

I am currently working on Geopolitics and Bangladesh focusing especially on ethnocratic geopolitics and migration across the Bangladesh-India borderlands and the Bay of Bengal region.
