Sigrid Lupieri

PhD Candidate, Centre of Development Studies (POLIS)

Biography:

As a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, my research investigates the international politics of refugee protection, with a focus on healthcare, aging, and social policies in the Middle East. More specifically, my dissertation analyses the factors that lead to the neglect of the healthcare needs of older Syrian refugees in Jordan. My previous experience includes working at UNESCO in New Delhi and UNDP in New York, as well as several years as a journalist in Armenia, Georgia, Germany and the U.S. I hold master’s degrees in journalism (Northwestern University) and modern European history (University of Cambridge), and a BA (Hons) in foreign languages and literatures (University of Udine).
