Biography:

Dr. Tuba Bircan is a guest professor and the research coordinator at the Interface Demography, at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). She holds BSc and MSc in Statistics and PhD in Social and Political Sciences. After working at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, she worked at the University of Leuven at the Institute for Political Research, Center for Public economics, and Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA). She works currently as a guest professor and research coordinator at the Interface Demography at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). Besides teaching several statistical and methodology courses on undergrad, grad and PhD level, she has profound experience in the EU projects. Dr. Bircan also acts as an external expert and an evaluator for several EU agencies.

Research Interests

Tuba Bircan's research interests are mainly migration, equal opportunities, refugees, (public) perception, and social policies. She is particularly specialised in the quantitative methodologies, advanced statistical models in social sciences and working on the applications of big data in migration research.
