The Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement

Biography

I worked as a teacher before embarking on an AHRC funded PhD at the Faculty of Education which addressed the representation of secondary education by the BBC between 1944–1965. This research led to an interest in the perspectives of minorities in educational research in the years after World War Two and the ways in which their memories can be both included in and responded to through research.

Research

  • Research on the memories of schooling from the perspective of minorities who migrated to the UK between 1960 and 1980.
  • Using drawing as a method for recording experiences on how we learn about migration.
