- History of European migration, colonialism and imperialism.
- Current project 'Surviving Empire': is a translation of the imperial context in a globalizing world, 1550-1800, and explores the inter-relationship of European imperialisms from the later 16th century to the French revolution.
- Works principally on human trafficking in an historical perspective and interested in emerging legal responses to migrants/refugees.
