Black History Month is held each year in October, with a programme that promotes the history and contributions that African, Caribbean, Asian and other BAME communities have made to Cambridge and the UK.

Events around the country include history and heritage, arts and culture, news and ideas from a range of communities. It is an opportunity to share activities and experiences.

Black History Month was first celebrated in the UK in 1987. We have celebrated it in Cambridge since 2005.

This year’s programme is the most varied, with the greatest number of partners, that we have ever seen in Cambridge. There is drama and story telling, music and film, lectures and social events, history and current affairs. There are events for young and old, and many are free.

Booking details and contacts for more information are included for each event.
