Ruoxi Liu is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Cambridge supervised by Professor Christel Lane. Her research focus has been the intersection of labour and margilisation and she aims to investigate the distinctiveness of the developing context in terms of labour-related issues such as in the immigrant society. Fully funded by CSC Trust Scholarship, Ruoxi's PhD project investigates the quality and solidarity in work of the Chinese self-employed people in the cultural industries. Besides, she has been working on the immigrant entrepreneurship and the in-betweenness of the French-Chinese since 2014. And she has done research on the false self-employment among Asian immigrants in the UK.
