Biography
Dr. Fitzsimons is a Research Officer at Cambridge Assessment in the area of Curriculum and Development and is on the team leading the UNICEF Education in Emergencies Curriculum Framework project. She is also an Executive Board for the EU Association of History Educators (EUROCLIO). She has worked on several peace building and social transition projects in post-conflict and divided societies. These involved a mixture of curriculum evaluation, resource development and teacher training initiatives. Recently, I have completed projects in northern Spain, the Balkan region and South Korea. Her PhD research, completed at Queen’s University Belfast, focused on the role that education plays in how young people view and develop their sense of national identity in post-conflict and/or divided societies.
