The Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement

This event will introduce the exhibition, 'This place is us' on view at Newnham College, which was developed through a collaboration between artist Luciana Rosado and Dr Mezna Qato and Dr Georgia Cole, researchers at the College's Margaret Anstee Centre.

Through presentations and discussion the event will consider how the theme of forced migration and the concepts of identity, home and belonging have informed Luciana Rosado's artistic practice. We will look in more detail at the paintings and mixed media works created for the exhibition, followed by an 'In conversation' with the artist and researchers, hosted by Dr Jenny Mander, Co-Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement.

Laura Dennis, Curator at Newnham, will also give a short introduction to the Artist-Researcher scheme, initiated by artist and alumna Clara Drummond. There will also be information available about other contemporary art projects currently taking place at the College.
