News The Centre is running a very virtual operation at present as we all work from our homes, physically separate but still very much in touch with each other. It will not be surprising to you in the current situation that we have events that need to be postponed, these are listed below. We are currently investigating ways to host online events and we will keep you posted as we sift through the various e-solutions available. It is our hope that we can continue to provide you with some interesting seminars albeit through a virtual environment.

Human Movement Blog You may have seen on our social media that we have just launched a new blog. We are seeking submissions now that we are ‘live’ and are open for contributions. Submissions should focus, broadly, on the themes of migration, but we are eager to consider pieces that approach the topic from a wide variety of perspectives. We will consider work in a range of styles and genres, from essays and journalism to visual art and video/audio (e.g. interviews, recordings of events, documentaries) and to book/film/event reviews. While migration is a subject of great contemporary relevance, we also welcome submissions with regards to historical issues and events. You can visit our blog here: https://centreghum.com/ |

‘Memories in Transit’ Conference – Postponed until 2021 Note from the conference organisers: It brings us great sadness that due to the situation with the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we have had to make the very difficult decision of postponing the conference until 2021. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be monitoring the situation carefully as it develops, and we will liaise closely with the Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement and Cambridge University to decide on the best timing of the conference that ensures the safety of all the participants. |

‘Traces of Global Human Movement: Interdisciplinary Dialogues’ Conference – Postponed until Spring 2021 Given the continuing Covid-19 situation and the uncertainty around when travel restrictions are likely to be lifted it has become evident that it will not be possible to hold our conference in September this year as originally planned. I am very sorry to have to announce that we have decided to postpone until Spring 2021. We have closed our conference submissions for the present time and will re-open them when we are ready with new dates. |
