Biography
Benjamin Schraven is a Senior Researcher of the German Development Institute (DIE-GDI) sine 2011. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Center for Development Research (University of Bonn). Besides his research activities, Benjamin did migration related consultancy work for the World Bank, UNICEF and several development cooperation agencies. Furthermore, in 2016 he has been seconded as a scientific advisor on migration issues to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Since 2009 he has worked as a Guest Researcher/Lecturer at the University of Ghana for several times.
Research
Benjamin Schraven's research interests include the interlinkages between environmental/climate change and human mobility, migration governance, (West) African migration patterns as well as migration and development.
