The Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement
Marissa has worked as a consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and as an advisor to the Government of Afghanistan. Her current research engages with critical security studies and the motifs of participation and protection that characterize debates about women, youth and marginalized groups in the migration pathway.
My current research focuses on Afghans and Nigerians in the migration pathway to Europe with an emphasis on youth and marginalised groups. I am especially interested in the problem of detention, deportation and return. I am also conducting research for a Chatham House paper on regional solutions to migration.
