Biography

Isaac is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 2021. Prior to his position at Cambridge, Isaac was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa. Isaac is also a Junior Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History. He has lived and conducted research in the Middle East for over four years. More broadly, Isaac’s interdisciplinary scholarly and teaching interests centre on political anthropology, peace and conflict studies, migration, global history, and subaltern perspectives on geopolitics.

Research

Isaac’s research explores how Arab migrants in Egypt, France, and Canada narrate instances of conflict, the state, and empire in their everyday lives.
